About

Karine LaRocque, also often referred to as Kae Roc, is a Montreal-based documentary and music photographer.

Formerly the Editor-in-Chief of Naked Eye magazine, she has been immersed in popular culture since the late 1990s. LaRocque is known for capturing live music moments in richly hued photographs reminiscent of Italian Renaissance paintings. Citing Caravaggio as an inspiration, she manipulates light and composition to stop time, infusing her photographs with a serenity that hides the often chaotic and fast-paced environments in which they were taken.

In addition to her music work, LaRocque is committed to photographing social issues around the world. With determination and sensitivity, she offers a rare insight into unfamiliar cultures and societies. LaRocque thrives to share stories and invites us to explore the world through her lens. LaRocque works globally on personal projects and assigned commissions; her work has been published and exhibited internationally.

Known for her energy and for her ability to create photographs that humanize situations and cultures, LaRocque hopes to bridge the gap between mainstream culture and social issues.

LaRocque received her Bachelor of Business Administration from HEC Montreal and a Master of Fine Arts from Academy of Art University.
